Shield, Mottto and Patron

Shield of the American National Catholic Theological Institute.

The shield is based on an original graphic composed by Ricardo Casimiro.

The scarlet red color is the academic color for theology. The wave recalls the Jordan River, a stream of liminal experience and transition in peoples’ lives. The flame reminds us of the fire, grace and power of the Holy Spirit who inspires our vocations. The imperfect cross composing the “T” symbolizes the imperfect path we follow that leads to salvation in Christ Jesus.

The motto of the Institute, Sanctifica Eos In Veritatis, means “Sanctify them in truth.” The Institute is dedicated to the patronage of St. Thomas Aquinas.
